Access Key

If your appliance is in lock-down mode and you need assistance from Veritas Technical Support to further troubleshoot the issue, an access key will be needed. You may choose either of the following ways to generate an Access Key:

  • Open a support case.

  • Starting with Flex Appliances version 4.0 and Access Appliances version 8.4 or later, you have the flexibility to generate the Appliance Access Key by going through the steps given below.

To generate an access key for the appliance, you need to create a request by navigating to Support >> Access Key. The request will be sent for approval to the designated Secure Quorum approvers on your team. After designated team member(s) approves the request, the requester can generate the access key without contacting Veritas Technical Support . The generated key can be copied or shared via email. The Access Key tab will be visible only to users with specific permissions.

Note:

A new Security Admin role has been introduced. The Security Admin can designate Secure Quorum Requester(s) and Approver(s) from the team to request and allow Access key generation. To enable this feature, send an email to DL-VTAS-SHI-HELP@veritas.com. Refer to the following tech-note for more details: https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100062936.

To update Secure Quorum configuration,

  1. Navigate to the Team Management tab.
  2. Click the Edit icon next to Secure Quorum Configuration and do the following:
    • Switch the Secure Quorum Configuration radio button On.

    • Add at least one Requester and two Approver.

To generate Access Key,

  1. Log in as a Requestor, navigate to Support >> Access Key and click Request Access Key.
  2. Enter the verification code sent to the registered email address in the pop-up and click Verify and Proceed.
  3. In the next pop-up, enter reason for requesting access key and click Submit.

An email will be sent to all Approvers, notifying about the request.

  4. Log in as a Approver, click the Tasks tab in the left pane, identify the appliance and click Review.
  5. On the Enter the verification code pop-up, enter the code sent to the registered email address and click Verify and Proceed.

    Note:

The verification code is valid for 15 minutes. A new verification code can be generated only after the first code expires.

  6. Add comment in the field and click Approve. If the request is not legitimate, approver can reject the request by clicking Reject.

An email will be sent to the Requestor, notifying about the action taken by the Approver.

  7. For the Requester, the status of the request changes to Approved.
  8. Once the request is approved, the Requestor should navigate to Support >> Access Key and click Generate Access Key.
  9. In Generate Access Key pop-up, add the following and click Generate.
    • Access Passphrase: add a unique passphrase for identifying the appliance.

    • Confirm Passphrase: add same passphrase to confirm.

    • Reason For Generating Access Key: add a reason for generating access key.

    • Appliance One-Time Password: enter the OTP shared via email.

  10. A newly generated access key will appear on the page.

Click Copy and save the Access Key on your device. If you wish to receive it via email for future reference, click Email and this key will be sent to your registered email address.
