Managing the data restriction mode for single or multiple appliances
Data restriction mode allows you to have better control over who can view the sensitive data for your appliances. As a team administrator, you can enable the data restriction mode and make the appliance telemetry and monitoring data inaccessible to the Veritas employees who are not part of your team. They can still see some generic data for the restricted appliances, such as appliance model, call home status, support details etc.
Before registering an appliance, if you have determined that the appliance should have restricted access, you can enable the data restriction mode at the time of registration itself. Refer to the Registering an appliance section.
Note:
Data restriction mode can be managed only by the team administrator.
Refer to the following instructions to enable or disable the data restriction mode for one or more appliances at once.
To enable the data restriction mode:
On the Advanced Search page, run a search for one or more registered appliances that you want to enable the data restriction mode for.
Select those appliances from the search results displayed.
Click Manage Data Restriction Mode from the kebab menu appearing at the top of the list. The Manage Data Restriction Mode confirmation dialog box appears.
Review the UIDs to ensure that you want to proceed. If you selected the appliances for which you have the Standard or the Read Only access, their UIDs will be listed in the Unable to manage data restriction mode section. Hence you can not manage their data restriction mode.
Click Enable to activate the data restriction mode for the selected appliances. If some of the selected appliances already had the data restriction mode enabled, they will not be affected.
Once an appliance is in the data restriction enabled mode, the sensitive information such as a hostname, capacity usage, SRS etc will be masked in the appliance list view and in the corresponding appliance dashboards.
Note:
The Veritas employees added as the members within your team will have unrestricted access to the appliance data.
You can disable the appliance's data restriction mode at any time if you want to grant unrestricted access to the telemetry data to Veritas personnel.
To disable the data restriction mode:
On the Advanced Search page, run a search for one or more registered appliances that you want to disable the data restriction mode for.
Click Disable to deactivate the data restriction mode for the selected appliances. If some of the selected appliances already had the data restriction mode disabled, they will not be affected.
You can also manage the data restriction mode from an individual appliance's dashboard. Refer to "Actions on the Appliance Dashboard" in About the Appliance Dashboard section.
