Role Wizard - Select User Type
You use the default Velocity user types to create specific roles for your organization. When you create a role, you select one of the Velocity user types and then assign one or more users and database sources to it.
Table: Types of roles
Role | Description |
---|---|
Velocity administrator | Designates the user type as a Velocity administrator. Each organization has at least one Velocity administrator who oversees all users and data in the system. This includes creating, listing, editing, and deleting users and Velocity Storage Servers. The Velocity administrator can access all dialogs in the Velocity Cloud Console and can view all sandboxes, database sources, and database copies. Only Velocity administrators can assign additional users to the Velocity administrator role. The initial product user is created as a Velocity administrator at the time that the organization is entered in the Veritas Application Portal. |
Database administrator | Designates the user type as a database administrator. A database administrator manages databases and configures who can access them. The database administrator defines database sources by adding databases to Velocity. When a database is added, the database administrator becomes the owner of the database. |
Sandbox user | Designates the user type as a sandbox user. A sandbox user has access to specific databases and database copies. The sandbox user can create sandboxes based on the databases available to them. |
