Viewing details of an Oracle database source
You can view the details of a database source that you added to Velocity. If the database source is not yet ingested, some details may not be available.
To view details of an Oracle database source
- From the Velocity Cloud Console, in the left pane, click Database Sources.
- Select the row that the database appears on, and then click Details.
- View the following information:
Table: Database Source details
Item | Description |
---|---|
Database Name | Displays the name of the database source that you selected to ingest into Velocity. If you entered a nickname, it displays in parentheses. You can edit the nickname. See Changing the nickname or description of a database source. |
Owner | Displays the name and the email address of the person who added this database source to Velocity. |
Copy Preparation Enabled | Lets you change data in a database source before sandbox users can access the database copies. Changing the data lets you protect the actual data but still provide usable data for test and development purposes. For example, you can use data masking or data obfuscation or any other technique that substitutes functional data for real data. Only the database owner can view this database copy in the list. |
Copy Preparation Disabled | Indicates that the data in the database source cannot be changed before sandbox users can access the database copies. The data in the database source is available without any data masking, data obfuscation, or any other data manipulation technique applied. You can enable copy preparation to apply to all database copies of a database source. You can then change the data before sandbox users can access the database copies. |
Latest Copy | Displays one of the following:
|
Description | Displays a description that was entered when the database source was added to Velocity. You can edit the description. See Changing the nickname or description of a database source. |
Multitenant Container Database | Indicates that the database source is an Oracle CDB database. |
Table: Velocity Storage Server details
Item | Description |
---|---|
Velocity Storage Server | Displays the hostname or IP address of the Velocity Storage Server that stores the ingests of the database source. |
NFS Export Path | Displays the location on the Velocity Storage Server where the ingests of the database source are stored. See NFS export paths where ingested Oracle Database sources are stored are inaccessible. See After restart of the vpfsd service, links to the applications are broken . |
Table: Oracle Server details
Item | Description |
---|---|
Source Host or Node Hosts | Displays the Oracle host server of the database, or displays the name or IP address of any RAC nodes that were added if the database is located in a RAC environment. |
Database Version | Displays the version of Oracle on the Oracle host server. |
Size | Displays the size of the database on the Oracle host server. |
Oracle Home | Displays the program group that is associated with a specific home, and the Oracle services that are installed on this home. |
NFS Mount Path | Displays the path on the Oracle host server where the NFS share is mounted. By default, Velocity uses the prefix /mnt/velocity to create the mount path. However, you can specify a different NFS mount path when you ingest a database or create a sandbox. Note: This field does not appear if you added a NetBackup policy as a database source. |
