Restoring the Velocity physical appliance to a factory state
An appliance factory reset returns the appliance to a clean, unconfigured, and factory state. However, you can choose to retain the network settings.
To perform a factory reset on the appliance
- Log on to the Velocity shell menu.
- From the Main_Menu > Support view, type the following command:
FactoryReset
- Select whether you want to retain the appliance network settings.
Note:
If you select to reset the network settings, the appliance will no longer be accessible over ssh when the factory reset completes. You will need to use the Veritas Remote Management Console (IPMI) or a physical keyboard and monitor to reconfigure the network settings.
- Select whether you want the appliance to automatically restart after the rollback process.
Selecting to manually restart the appliance allows you time to review the factory reset progress and final status messages.
Note:
Restarting the appliance is required to complete the factory reset no matter which option you select.
- Review your selections and type yes to start the factory reset.
- (Optional) If you chose not to automatically restart the appliance in Step 4, make sure to manually restart the appliance when you are done reviewing the factory reset progress and final status messages.
