Increasing meta and data storage capacity on the Velocity Storage Server
If a meta or data volume becomes full, you can add more disks to it to increase the storage capacity of the Velocity Storage Server.
Veritas recommends that when you add storage, you should first add more space to existing volumes. Increase the space equally among volumes to achieve load balancing.
To increase meta and data storage capacity
- Use vSphere to add a new vmdk that you want to use as a meta disk or a data disk.
- From the Velocity shell menu, go to the Main_Menu > Manage > Storage view, type the following command, and then press Enter.
Scan
- Go to the Main_Menu > Manage > Storage view, type the following command, and then press Enter.
Show
- Go to the Main_Menu > Manage > Storage view, type the following command, and then press Enter.
Add
- Do one of the following.
If you added a meta disk, in Select META disks, type the number that corresponds to the virtual disk that you want to include in the meta volume. Use a comma to separate the numbers if you added more than one disk.
If you added a data disk, in Select DATA disks, type the number that corresponds to the virtual disk that you want to include in the data volume. Use a comma to separate the numbers if you added more than one disk.
- Type yes to accept your selections and begin the configuration.
