About the Velocity Storage Server
The Velocity Storage Server is a component that resides in your data center and stores all user data in Velocity. You can deploy it on a virtual machine or on a physical appliance.
Table: Deployment methods
Deployment method | Description |
---|---|
Virtual machine deployment | The Velocity Storage Server is installed and hosted as a virtual machine in your data center. It is deployed from an Open Virtual Appliance (.ova) file. See Deploying the Velocity Storage Server image on a virtual machine. |
Physical appliance deployment | The Velocity Storage Server is deployed on the Velocity 7330 Appliance. The Velocity Appliance is preinstalled with the Veritas Optimized Operating System (VxOS), the appliance software, and the Velocity application. |
You can use any combination of virtual and physical Velocity Storage Servers to meet your organization's needs. From the Velocity Cloud Console, you can manage and monitor all of the registered Velocity Storage Servers.
Note:
Only one Velocity Client can be registered with a Velocity Storage Server.
