DESCRIPTION
Note:
This command only applies to the Veritas Velocity physical appliance.
Use this command to configure the appliance to send SNMP alerts (traps) to your SNMP server so that you can monitor specific hardware and software alerts. SNMP traps are programmed to occur primarily for appliance hardware conditions. The Velocity Appliance uses the SNMPv2-SMI application protocol to monitor appliance hardware.
The following list includes examples of the types of hardware notifications that are monitored through SNMP for the appliance:
CPU
Disk
Fan
Fibre Channel
Power Supply
RAID
Temperature
OPTIONS
- Disable
Disable the SNMP settings on the appliance and stop sending traps to the SNMP server.
- Enable
Enable the SNMP settings on the appliance and start sending traps to the specified SNMP server.
- Set Server [Community] [Port]
Configure your appliance to send traps to your SNMP server.
The <ServerAddress> parameter is the IP address or fully qualified host name of your SNMP server. The [Community] parameter is the SNMP community. The [Port] parameter is the manager port on the SNMP server (default is 162).
- Show
View the SNMP alert settings that are currently configured on the appliance, such as SNMP server, port, community, and notification interval.
- ShowMIB
Display the contents of the Management Information Base (MIB) file. This file contains the notification traps that are configured to monitor the appliance hardware. Import this file into your SNMP management software.
EXAMPLES
Use the SNMP Set command and the SNMP Enable command to start sending appliance traps to your SNMP server:
abc123.Alerts> SNMP Set pqr222.xyz.com public 182 Successfully set SNMP manager abc123.Alerts> SNMP Enable Successfully enabled SNMP
