View the original item

When you click the View the original item link in an Outlook or Outlook Web Access item, it opens in a new browser window. This browser window is the Enterprise Vault Search reading pane. You can use the toolbar at the top of the window to open the full Enterprise Vault Search, or perform actions on the item.

The buttons that are visible depend on the item type and how your administrator has set up Enterprise Vault.

The following actions are available in the toolbar:

Search button

Search. Opens Enterprise Vault Search so that you can search for archived items.

Download button

Download. Depending on your browser settings, one of the following may happen:

  • The item opens in a separate window.

  • The item is saved to the download location that is specified in the browser.

    You can view the item by opening it from the download location.

  • The File Download dialog box opens.

    Click Open to view the item, or select the folder to which you want to download the item and then click Save.

Move to Archive button

Move. Moves the item to a different archive or folder.

When you click Move archived item and then Choose Folder, the Folder Selection dialog box opens. You can then select the destination folder or mailbox to which you want to move the item.

Depending on how your administrator has set up Enterprise Vault, moving an item may change the retention category of the item.

Copy to Restored Items Folder button

Copy. Copies the item to the Restored Items folder of your mailbox.

Delete button

Delete. Deletes the archived item from the archive.

Help button

Help. Opens this Help topic.

Hide header details button

Hide header details. Hides the item header details.

Show header details button

Show header details. Shows the item header details.

More button

More. Shows any buttons that may be hidden from view.
