New features in this release
This release has the following features and enhancements:
Option to change the retention categories of items. Depending on how your administrator has set up Enterprise Vault Search, you may be able to change the retention categories of the items in your archives.
Retention folders. Your Enterprise Vault administrator can now add one or more special retention folders to your archives. Depending on how your administrator configures these folders, they may impose retention categories on the items that they contain. So, you may find that moving an item into a retention folder causes the item's retention category to change. You cannot move, rename, or delete retention folders. However, you can add subfolders to them, if you want.
In the sidebar of Enterprise Vault Search, retention folders have the following icon to distinguish them from standard archive folders:
Support for Skype for Business content. Enterprise Vault Search now shows content from Skype for Business. Skype for Business items appear in the results pane with the following icon:
link. The link in an Outlook or Outlook Web Access shortcut now opens a new Enterprise Vault Search reading pane. You can perform actions such as downloading or moving items, or open Enterprise Vault Search using the toolbar buttons.
Expiry report. On the Enterprise Vault page in Outlook Backstage view, the expiry report now opens in Enterprise Vault Search. The expiry report lists the items that Enterprise Vault will delete from your archive because their retention period is about to end.
Easy-to-access Help. A new Help button provides quick access to the Enterprise Vault Search Help topics and videos. The Help button is next to your user name at the top right of Enterprise Vault Search and also in the reading pane toolbar.
