Configuring credentials for share discovery and native scanning

You can store the authentication credentials that you can use to obtain share and export to path mapping information from the devices that are backed up by NetBackup. The service account credentials are stored and encrypted within Information Fabric technology platform using the public key. The passwords can only be decrypted with the private key which remains encrypted on-premises with the Agent and is not sent to Information Fabric.

You can define the credentials once, and then reference these for any number of tasks. The saved credential store simplifies management of user name and password changes.

The Administration > Tasks Credential page of the Administration portal displays the configured stored credentials. You can add saved credentials to Information Map, view details of the configured credentials, and edit or delete one or more saved credentials from this page.

To add a new Task credential

  1. On the vertical navigation panel in the Information Map application, expand the Administration section and click Task Credentials.
  2. On the New Task Credential panel, enter the following details:
    • A logical name to identify the credentials.

    • The user name and password of the account that the Information Map Agent uses to discover shares on a device.

Ensure that the user account that is used for share discovery meets the requirements described in the following topic:

See Credentials required to configure share discovery.

  3. Click Save.
