Credentials required to configure share discovery

The section describes the type of login accounts that the Information Map Agent uses to connect with file servers to discover shares and to obtain the path-mapping information.

Table: Minimum credentials required to discover shares on file servers

Credential

Minimum permissions required

Credentials required to discover CIFS or NFS shares on a 7-mode NetApp filer.

Use a ONTAP non-administrator user account (a user account that does not belong to the administrators group on the filer), but the credentials must be assigned specific privileges.

See Configuring a non-administrator domain user on NetApp 7-mode filer.

Credentials required to discover shares on a Windows File Server

If the user account does not belong to Administrators group on the file server, the account should have all of the following permissions:

  • Have Read permissions on the share.

  • Have NTFS permissions Read, List folder contents, Read & execute.

  • Must belong to the local Print Operators group on the file server.

Credentials required to discover shares on EMC Isilon file servers

You can use a non-administrator user account. The user being used to discover shares on the EMC Isilon filer should belong to the same domain.

The account must have the share-level Read permission.

The non-administrator account can be a local Isilon OneFS account or a domain account.

See Configuring a non-administrator account on an EMC Isilon file server.
