Deployment workflow

Deploying Information Map involves the following tasks:

  1. Plan Information Map deployment.

    • Procure a tenant subscription for Information Map.

    • Review the system and security requirements for installing the Information Map Agent.

    • Create an account for the Information Map administrator's account.

    • Generate a keystore file.

    • Configure access to NetBackup master servers. For information about the prerequisites required for other content sources, see Veritas Connection Center Help.

  2. Install and configure the Agent.

    • Log on to Information Map and download the Agent installer.

    • Create locations in Information Map.

    • Install and register the Agent.

Associate agent with a service group during registration. You can associate agent with existing group or can create new group to be associated with agent.

    • Add a new task for each NetBackup master server you want to acquire metadata from. This step is required only for configuring collection of metadata from NetBackup catalogs.

  3. Configure data stores (connections) in Veritas Connection Center. You can switch between the Information Map and Veritas Connection Center applications using the drop-down in the header of the respective applications.

For more information about how to add data stores and credentials in Veritas Connection Center, see the Veritas Connection Center Help.

  4. Manage Information Map settings.

    • Configure additional users and assign the users appropriate roles.

    • View and edit the schedule of the services that execute tasks and upload the results to Information Map

      Note:

If you are collecting data from data stores using Agent version 3.0.0.0 and later, you must configure the schedule in the Veritas Connection Center when you add the data stores.

    • Configure and manage stored credentials for share discovery and for fetching export mapping from devices.

    • Configure the settings that define what must be considered as stale and non-business data for your organization.

    • Manage the ability to automatically update the Information Map Agent.

    • Manage which content sources to collect metadata from.
