Overview

The 5250 Appliance operates with up to six external storage shelves. If your appliance has at least one storage shelf that is connected and running properly you can add more shelves for a total of six shelves.

Existing 5250 Appliances with internal storage capacities of 9.1TiB and 36.4TiB support up to six Veritas 2U12 65.5TiB/72TB Storage Shelves.

Before you place the system into a production environment, you must migrate all MSDP data from the appliance to the first external storage shelf. After you migrate the MSDP data, the amount of usable storage space may fluctuate, depending on how much storage space the MSDP data pool presently uses.

See Moving the MSDP partition from a base disk to an expansion disk for optimum performance.

Spanning MSDP data across a 5250 Appliance and a storage shelf is not recommended.

More information about Migration Utilities is available in the NetBackup Appliance Administrator's Guide at the following site.
