Connecting the sixth D Series storage shelf to an appliance

Note:

The cables in the illustrations in the following sections are shown in different colors for demonstration purposes only. The actual cables are black.

Note:

The orientation of the blue tabs on the ends of the SAS-3 cables is important. In the appliance, the blue tabs on each SAS-3 connector must face down. In the storage shelves, blue tabs of the SAS-3 connectors inserted must face up.

To connect the sixth storage shelf to an appliance

  1. Disconnect the SAS-3 cable from port 1 on the bottom I/O module on the fifth storage shelf and connect the cable to port 1 on the bottom I/O module of the sixth shelf.
  2. Connect one SAS-3 cable to port 2 in the top I/O module of the fifth storage shelf. Connect the other end of this cable to port 1 in the top I/O module in the sixth storage shelf.
  3. Connect one SAS-3 cable to port 1 in the bottom I/O module of the fifth storage shelf. Connect the other end of this cable to port 2 in the bottom I/O module in the sixth storage shelf.

Next, connect network and power cables. Turn on the storage shelves and the appliance per the required sequence. Verify that all units function correctly.
