Creating research folders
You can create research folders in the following ways:
From the
node.By selecting a specific department.
This flexibility allows users to manage investigations efficiently.
To create a research folder
- In the left navigation pane, click Departments.
- Expand the Departments section if it is not expanded by default, and do any of the following:
Click All Research Folders.
Select a department in which you want to create a research folder.
- On the action bar, click Create Research Folder, and specify the following information:
Research Folder
Name
Type a unique name for the research folder.
Parent department
Select the parent department to associate with this research folder. Ensure that you have the Perform Ad Hoc Searches permission for the selected department.
Export details
Item ID prefix
Enter the text to use as a prefix for the export number of each item. Use letters to align with legal or company naming conventions if required.
Item ID padding
Enter the number of digits for the export number of each item. The default is 6 digits only.
Output folder
Enter the folder path (location) where you want to store the exported items.
To export items to another computer, specify the UNC path (e.g., \\my_computer\exports).
To export items as a Personal Folder (.pst) file, use an NTFS path (e.g., Z:\exports), as Windows does not support exporting .pst files through a UNC path.
The folder path length can be a maximum of 100 characters.
- Click Save.
