Restoring items to another user's mailbox
When all the following apply, you can copy items from an Enterprise Vault journal archive to the Restored Items folder in another user's mailbox:
Your administrator has configured Enterprise Vault Search to let you restore items.
You have at least Read access to the journal archive.
You have full access rights to the other user's mailbox.
So if other users accidentally delete important items, you can restore the items for them from the journal archive. You can use this facility to restore items to Exchange mailboxes only.
To restore items to another user's mailbox
- If necessary, select the journal archive from which you want to restore items.
- Search the archive for the items, and then select them in the results pane.
To select multiple adjacent items, select the first item, hold Shift, and select the last item. To select multiple nonadjacent items, hold Ctrl and select the items.
Do one of the following:
Right-click the items, or click the Actions button, and then click Copy to > Mailbox > Restored Items Folder.
If you have selected just one item, click the Copy to Restored Items Folder button in the reading pane toolbar.
- Enter the details of the Exchange server and mailbox to which you want to restore the items.
Enterprise Vault Search saves these details in your preferences so that you do not need to enter them again when you next restore items to the user's mailbox. However, you can change the details later if you need to restore items to a different user's mailbox.
