Turning off the existing hardware

You must turn off the compute nodes, the Primary shelf, and all Expansion shelves before you add new shelves.

After the compute nodes are turned off the, you must manually turn off the storage shelves in the sequence mentioned below.

  • Turn off the Primary shelf first.

  • Then turn off the Expansion Shelf.

  • If you have a second Expansion Shelf turn it off last.

To turn off the existing hardware:

  1. Perform a soft shutdown of the compute nodes.

If you have two compute nodes you must shut them down separately.

    • SSH to the Access shell menu.

    • Enter Cluster.

    • Enter shutdown all to shut down both nodes.

  2. After the compute nodes are turned off you must manually turn off the storage shelves.

Locate the on/off switches on the two power supplies on the rear of the storage shelves. The switches are in the same location for the Primary shelf and for the Expansion shelves.

  3. Press the switches on the Primary Shelf to off.
  4. Press the switches on the Expansion Shelf that is closest to the Primary Shelf to off.
  5. If you have a second Expansion Shelf press the switches to off.
