RecoverTombstoneItems
Location |
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software \Wow6432Node \KVS \Enterprise Vault \Agents |
Content | DWORD 0 - (Default) Do not recover any "tombstone" (soft-deleted) items when processing a mailbox folder. 1 - Recover tombstone items. |
Description | As the Enterprise Vault archiving service processes each mailbox folder, controls whether the service recovers any items that have been soft-deleted from the folder. These are items that the user has deleted but for which a backup copy is kept on the Microsoft Exchange server for a certain period of time. If you set RecoverTombstoneItems to 1, all the items are recovered except for pending items and shortcuts. Enterprise Vault recovers the items to their original folders, which it recreates if they have been deleted. Note: Depending on the mailbox policy settings, there can be an undesired effect on the mailbox if you choose to recover tombstone items. For example, the mailbox store will grow in size if you have chosen not to create shortcuts and not to delete the original items after archiving. An email that was archived by Enterprise Vault and then deleted by the user will be rearchived as a new item, resulting in duplicate items in the archive. |
