Installing NetBackup Flex Scale on HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 servers using a USB drive

Before you begin, download the nbfs-3.2-20240316224905.iso ISO image from the Veritas Support site. After downloading the file to a USB, make the image bootable and connect it to the nodes.

To install NetBackup Flex Scale

  1. Launch the HPE iLO Remote Console interface and from the menu on the left, click Administration.
  2. Click Boot Order.
  3. Under One-Time Boot Status, in the Select One-Time Boot Option list select USB Storage Device and click Apply.

    The screen should look similar to the figure shown below:

  4. Make sure that Server Boot Order is normal to boot local hard disk as shown below:
  5. Click the Menu icon, and then click Power > Cold Boot or Reset. The appliance node automatically boots using the USB ISO image and starts the installation process.
  6. After the appliance boots from the USB drive, the following screen appears. Do not press Enter. On this screen, ensure that the Install Veritas Optimised OS option is selected and press 'e' on the screen below.
  7. Replace the following text in the first line:
    inst.ks=cdrom:/ks.cfg inst.xdriver=vesamodprobe.blacklist\t=qla2xxx,lpfc,ocs..fc..scst,ahci,isci,ast pcie_aspm=off'

    with the following text:

    inst.stage2=hd:LABEL=CDROM inst.ks=hd:LABEL=CDROM:/ks.cfg inst.repo=hd:LABEL=CDROM:/
  8. Press Ctrl-x to start the installation.
  9. The installer loads the installer image and begins to install all the required packages. You will see several messages on the screen as the installer runs through the installation process. Some of the screens that are displayed are shown below:
  10. The installer then displays a welcome message on the screen that confirms that the installation has completed successfully:

    Log in using the following admin credentials to view the installation status.

    Username: admin
