Adding the Archive Search Web Part to a SharePoint page

You must be a site owner or administrator to modify a SharePoint page and add Web Parts.

To add the Archive Search Web Part to a SharePoint page

Note:

The following procedure is applicable only if you are using the classic experience of SharePoint. If you using the modern experience of SharePoint 2019 or later, see the To embed Enterprise Vault Search on a SharePoint page section.

  1. In Internet Explorer, open the page where you want to add the Archive Search Web Part.

  2. On the Site Actions menu, click Edit Page.

  3. In the Web Part zone in which you want to add the Web Part, click Add a Web Part.

  4. In the Add Web Parts dialog box, select Archive Search Web Part (located in the Miscellaneous section).

  5. Click Add.

The Archive Search Web Part will now be displayed on the page. Irrespective of the language of the Web Part package that you installed, text in the Web Part will be displayed in the language of the site.

Note:

If you add any Web Part (including the Enterprise Vault-provided Archive Search Web Part) in the classic experience of SharePoint 2019 or later, you might not be able to exit the classic experience and switch to the modern experience due to a SharePoint limitation. For more information, contact Microsoft Support.

To embed Enterprise Vault Search on a SharePoint page

Note:

The following prerequisites and procedure are applicable only if you are using the modern experience of SharePoint 2019 or later. The Archive Search Web Part is not available with the modern experience of SharePoint 2019 or later. To perform a search, you must embed the Enterprise Vault Search (EVS) in a SharePoint page. If you using the classic experience of SharePoint, see the To add the Archive Search Web Part to a SharePoint page section.

Prerequisites to embed EVS in a SharePoint page
  1. Add the Enterprise Vault Search site URL to the Trusted Sites on Internet Explorer.

  2. Import the Enterprise Vault server certificate to the machine where you are embedding EVS.

  3. Perform the following steps to configure the required settings on SharePoint:

    • Step 1: On the Home page of your SharePoint site, click Site Settings.

    • Step 2: Click HTML Field Security under Site Collection Administration.

    • Step 3: Add your machine name in Allow iframes from this domain.

    • Step 4: Click Add > Ok.

To embed EVS in a SharePoint page
  1. On the SharePoint page with modern experience, create a new page by performing the following steps:

    • Step 1: Click on Settings .

    • Step 2: Select Add a page.

      A new page is displayed.

    • Step 3: Give a suitable title to the new page (for example, Enterprise Vault Search).

  2. At the bottom, click on the + icon and click Embed.

  3. On the right Embed pane, enter an iframe code to embed the EVS link in the Website address or embed code field. For example:

    <iframe width="1000" height="1000" src="https:// <EV server>//EnterpriseVault/search/"></iframe>

    • Turn off the option to Resize to fit page.

    • Change the width and the height, if required.

    • Use the src attribute to update the EVS link that needs to be embedded, if required. <EV server> is a machine name where your EVS is hosted.

  4. If prompted for credentials, enter the credentials that you use to access EVS.

  5. Click Save and Close and then click Publish.

You can now view EVS embedded on your page. You can perform all the operations that are available on EVS, when opened on a web browser.
