Array Performance by RAID Group
Explore your data center using customizable report templates or by using parts of your IT infrastructure as entry points. Use Search to find reports, templates and dashboards across the portal.
Use the Reports tab to examine the catalog of templates, dashboards and reports - organized by products along with user-created, and system folders. This report is located here:
For a list of Array Families, collected performance statistics, and details on how performance profiles are determined, see Certified Configurations Guide.
For CLARiiON arrays, a LUN that is assigned to a Pool (as is required for dynamic provisioning) will not have any performance statistics collected.
HP 3PAR arrays are represented uniquely with each Common Provisioning Group (CPG) represented as a RAID Group. Virtual volumes (VV) can be allocated directly, outside of a CPG with each VV being represented as an individual RAID Group.
Array LUN performance response times (total, read, write) are not provided in reports for the following array families: EMC Symmetrix, Dell Compellent, and HP 3PAR.
Note:
Column aggregations are displayed in green on a separate line with the label Aggregation. Rollover the value to display the aggregation type: Avg., Min., Max., or Sum. Column filtering is not supported on reports with aggregated columns.
Table: Array Performance by RAID Group
Column name | Description |
---|---|
Storage Array |
Array name. |
RAID Group |
RAID group name. |
Performance |
Either Fast, Normal, or Slow, based on the performance index calculation for the LUN using the last baseline profile ranges for Fast and Slow performance; takes into account the worst performance of a LUN in the RAID Group. Each of these performance states are represented by a colored dot as shown in the legend at the top of the report. |
RAID Type |
RAID type. |
Drive Type |
Drive type, such as SAS or SATA. |
Drive Speed |
Drive speed in RPM. |
Drive Form |
Drive enclosure. |
# LUNs |
# of LUNs with drilldown to Array Performance by LUN. See Array Performance by LUN . You can also click the LUN name to show the details. See LUN Details . |
Response (ms) |
I/O response time = the average response time for all read and write operations (average I/Os). Response-time metrics are not available for Dell Compellent, EMC Symmetrix, IBM SVC, or HP 3PAR arrays. |
Max Read |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the longest read response time. This is the highest response time for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Max Write |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the longest write response time. This is the highest response time for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Avg Total |
Average of the average response times. |
Avg Read |
Average of the average response times (for the LUNs in the RAID Group) during the specified interval in milliseconds. Response-time metrics are not available for Dell Compellent, EMC Symmetrix, IBM SVC, or HP 3PAR arrays. |
Avg Write |
Average of the average response times (for the LUNs in the RAID Group) during the specified interval in milliseconds. Response-time metrics are not available for Dell Compellent, EMC Symmetrix, IBM SVC, or HP 3PAR arrays. |
Throughput IO/sec |
Average Read IOs/sec + Average Write IOs/sec. |
Max Read |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the largest read throughput (IOs/sec). This is the largest value for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Max Write |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the largest write throughput (IOs/sec). This is the largest value for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Avg Total |
Sum of the throughput (IOs/sec) averages. |
Avg Read |
Sum of the average Read IOs for the interval/length of interval in seconds. |
Avg Write |
Sum of the average Write IOs for the interval/length of interval in seconds. |
Max Read |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the highest read transfer rate. This is the highest read transfer rate for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Max Write |
Identifies the LUN in the group with the highest write transfer rate. This is the highest write transfer rate for a single LUN, from all the LUNs in the group. This can be used to identify the LUN with a performance problem. |
Avg Total |
Average of the average total transfer rates for the LUNs in the group. |
Avg Read |
Average of the average read transfer rate for the LUNs in the group, for the interval/length of interval in ms. |
Avg Write |
Average of the average write transfer rate for the LUNs in the group, for the interval/length of interval in ms. |
Cache Hits/sec Read |
Total Read Hits for interval/length of interval in seconds. |
Cache Hits/sec Write |
Total Write Hits for interval/length of interval in seconds. |
