Considerations for home directory set to a local user
If the home directory is set to a local user, you must complete additional steps to access the directory post upgrade.
To enable AD user to perform operations on files and directories in a home directory of a local user:
- Stop the CIFS server.
cifs server stop
- Configure AD.
network ad set domain domaincontroller workgroup domainuser
network ad enable
- Start CIFS server with ads security.
cifs server start
- Map CIFS local user to AD user on the Access cluster.
- Map home directory on Windows client with the same AD user mentioned in step 4 so a new directory named DOMAIN_domain_name is created.
- Move local user directory to the AD user.
mv LOCAL/localuser/ DOMAIN_domain_name/ADuser/
- Map the home directory with the AD user on Windows client again and give permissions to the AD user for the files and directories as required.
- Remove mapping of the local user and AD user from the Access cluster and remap the home directory on Windows client.
After completing these steps you can perform read and write operations with the AD user on the files and the directories.
