Veritas Access Appliance 8.2 Upgrade Guide
Accessing CIFS shares
After upgrading, you must access the CIFS shares using the FQDN instead of the virtual IP address.
If CIFS is configured as domain member server in ctdb clustering mode, after the upgrade, use the FQDN instead of the virtual IP address to access the CIFS shares.
If CIFS is configured as domain member server in normal clustering mode, after the upgrade, delete the shares that are already present, and then add the shares again. When you add the shares again, use the FQDN instead of the virtual IP address.
To access CIFS shares after the upgrade:
- If DNS server is configured, add service principal name (SPN) entry for all the virtual IP addresses on the AD server. SPNs are used by Kerberos authentication to associate a service instance with a service logon account
- If DNS server is not configured:
Add FQDN entry for the virtual IP addresses using the Access CLISH:
network host add ipaddr fqdn
Add FQDN entry in the
/etc/hosts
file for all the virtual IP addresses on the Windows client.Add SPN entry for all the virtual IP addresses on the Windows client.
- Delete the shares and add them again with the domain user that was mapped previously with the CIFS local user and with required export options.
Note:
You cannot change the owner of the share, but can grant full_acl, read, or write permissions to domain users for files and directories in the shares as required.
- Delete mapping of CIFS local user and domain user from the Access cluster:
cifs mapuser remove domainuser domainname
- Access the share on Windows client. Files in the share are accessible as per the granted permissions.
