Upgrading Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving components

This section summarizes the steps needed to install the components required for Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving. On each server that you want to perform SMTP Archiving you need to install at least the Enterprise Vault Services and the SMTP Archiving components. For detailed information about the prerequisite software and settings for Enterprise Vault, see the Installing and Configuring guide on the Enterprise Vault media. Installing and Configuring also provides more information on the installation steps.

To upgrade Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving components

  1. On the computers on which you want to configure Enterprise Vault SMTP Archiving, load the media for Enterprise Vault 11.0.1 or later, and run Deployment Scanner. The following instructions assume that you are upgrading the computers that host the legacy solution.
  2. Install any prerequisite software indicated by Deployment Scanner.
  3. On the feature selection page in the installation wizard, select SMTP Archiving Components, Enterprise Vault Services, and Administration Console, and then click Next.
  4. A dialog explains that the installation does not remove the legacy solution components. Click Next.
  5. When the installation is finished, the new Enterprise Vault SMTP server is listed as Enterprise Vault SMTP service in the Services console, Services.msc.
  6. Start the other Enterprise Vault services to complete the upgrade.
