SYNOPSIS
Shutdown
DESCRIPTION
Use this command to turn off power to the appliance. You also have the option to turn off power to the attached storage shelves.
OPTIONS
- Shutdown
Use this command to turn off power to the appliance.
You also have the option to turn off power to the attached storage shelves before the appliance power is turned off. If you enter yes to turn off power to the storage shelves, you are prompted to choose either a GRACEFUL or a FORCE shutdown. Note the following for each option and the prompts that follow after your selection:
GRACEFUL
Some processes may not stop in time before the shutdown has completed.
FORCE
All processes are stopped by force with the risk that some data may not be written completely to storage.
After you select one of the storage shelf shutdown options, you are prompted to select whether you want to continue with the appliance shutdown if the storage shelf shutdown fails.
The last prompt requires that you enter a reason for the storage shelf shutdown.
After you have responded to all prompts, a summary of your selections appears and you are asked if you want to continue with the storage shelf shutdown.
Note:
For storage shelves attached to appliance nodes in a high availability (HA) setup, the option to shut down storage shelves is not available when you shut down only one of the two nodes. As long as two nodes are up and running in the HA setup, you cannot shut down the storage shelves. After the first node is shut down and you then proceed to shut down the second node, the option to shut down storage shelves is available.
