Managing filers
On the filer details page, you can view detailed information about a configured filer, edit the filer's configuration, delete the filer, disable the filer, and manage the monitored shares on the filer.
The Configuration tab on the filer details page displays the following information about a filer:
The IP address or hostname of the filer.
The username and password of the user authorized to log in to the filer.
The IP address or hostname of the Collector worker node configured to scan the filer.
Whether file system event monitoring is enabled.
The scanning schedule.
The scanner credentials.
Whether all shares are to be monitored.
Whether new shares are to be scanned immediately.
Whether collection of storage utilization information is enabled.
The health of the filer.
You can migrate the filer to another Indexer.
See About migrating storage devices across Indexers.
To migrate to another Indexer
- Click Select Indexer.
- The Select Indexer pop-up displays the configured indexers that are available for selection.
- Review the performance parameters such as disk and CPU utilization and backlog of files accumulating on the configured nodes. You can also view the number of devices, shares or site collections assigned to each configured node. It is recommended that you assign a node on which the resource utilization is low.
- Click Select to assign the Indexer to the filer.
When the migration starts, click View Details to view the progress of the migration.
You can edit the configuration of the filer.
To edit filers
- To edit the filer configuration, click Edit.
- On the Edit Filer screen, make the necessary configuration changes.
- Click Save.
You can view events specific to the configured filer such as the status of scans on the filer, Indexer migration, or local user scans for the device.
To view events for a filer
- Click Event Log.
The events for the selected filer are displayed. You can filter these events by Data Insight node, type of event, severity, and the service or the process that is generating the event.
To delete or disable a filer
- To delete a filer, click Delete.
- If the filer you want to delete is a Windows File Server, the system asks you whether you want to uninstall the agent for the filer.
Click OK to uninstall the agent.
- Click OK on the confirmation message.
- To delete a filer, click Disable, and click OK on the confirmation message.
