Registering Data Insight application in Box to enable Box account monitoring
To authorize Data Insight to access the Box account, you must create an application for every Data Insight installation. This step involves associating a set of credentials with the application and providing the application with the required permissions, which enables communication between Data Insight and Box.
Note:
You need a Box account to add an application.
To create and register an application with Box
- Open https://app.box.com/developers/console.
- Sign-in with your Box Admin account credentials.
- Click Create New App.
- Select Custom App and click Next.
- Select User Authentication (OAuth 2.0) as an authentication protocol to permit access to Data Insight.
- Enter a desired name for the app and click Create App. An app will be created and you will be redirected to the newly created app's dashboard.
- In the Configuration tab of the app's dashboard, perform the following actions:
Scroll down to the OAuth 2.0 Credentials section and copy-save the Client ID and Client Secret values. You will be required to provide these details later while adding a Box account in Data Insight.
In the OAuth 2.0 Redirect URI section provide the Data Insight Management Server FQDN or IP address (FQDN is preferable), as a redirect URI in the following format: https://<Management Server FQDN or IP address>/cloud.
In the Application Scopes section grant these permissions at the minimum - Read all files and folders stored in Box, Read and write all files and folders stored in Box, Manage users, Manage enterprise properties.
In the Advanced Features section, enable Perform Actions as Users.
- Click Save Changes.
