NetBackup Virtual Appliance 5.1.1 new features, enhancements, and changes

The following list describes the new features, enhancements, and changes in the NetBackup Virtual Appliance 5.1.1 release:

  • The NetBackup Virtual Appliance combined primary and media server product file with the automatic initial configuration option has been removed. Only one product file is now available, and it requires initial configuration from the shell menu.

See How to deploy and configure a NetBackup Virtual Appliance combined primary and media server.

  • The appliance now supports only VMware vSphere versions 7.0.0, 7.0.1, and 7.0.2.

  • The appliance is now based on VMware virtual machine hardware version 17.

  • Starting with this release, extracting the CIFS and the NFS shares for logs with the Main > Support > Logs Share command is no longer supported. The command has been removed from the appliance shell menu. As an alternative, log in to the log browser website with the Main > Support > LogBrowser Start command. Use the log browser desktop to map, share, and copy the logs.

  • The Main > Manage > License shell menu view has moved to Main > Manage > License > NetBackup.

  • Starting with this release, license management is supported only on the primary server.

  • Starting with this release, the new general share lets you upload common or text files directly to the /inst/share directory on the appliance. The Main_Menu > Settings > Share command has been expanded to include the choice for General with the options to open or close it.

  • Starting with this release, Network Information Service (NIS) support has been removed from the NetBackup Virtual Appliance.
