Custom Machine Image configuration

To create a machine in the cloud requires an image. Machine Images are the pre-configured templates that serve as the starting point for launching new instances in the cloud ecosystem. They contain the necessary information to spin up a new instance, including the operating system, software packages, and configurations. This makes it easy to deploy new instances consistently and quickly, as Machine Images can be shared and reused across multiple instances, projects, or even cloud service provider accounts. These images can be:

  • Private or public (community or marketplace)

  • Self-built (custom) or shared by a vendor

The Arctera Application Mobility Service supports both Arctera-hosted images with pre-installed InfoScale components and custom machine images, including Amazon Machine Images and Azure Virtual Machine Images. The custom Machine Image feature is available for both application migration as well as new deployment. In both the cases, the Application Mobility Service performs the following tasks:

  1. Pick up a custom image from the user environment.

  2. Deploy virtual machines in the cloud environment.

  3. Additionally, if InfoScale isn't installed on the user system, Application Mobility downloads and installs the InfoScale.
