Installing the NetBackup client add-on packages

The supported NetBackup clients can be installed as add-on packages.

Considerations while installing the NetBackup client add-on packages:

  • If the nodes are configured in the cluster, the NetBackup client add-on packages are installed on both nodes.

  • If the nodes are not configured in the cluster, you have to download and install the NetBackup client add-on packages on both the nodes.

  • To create a file system, refer the section Creating a file system section in the Access Appliance Administrator's Guide on SORT. The file system used for the NetBackup client configuration should be a minimum of 10 GB with a 5-way striped layout. The client configuration uses 1 GB or less of space of the file system, and the remaining space is used for NetBackup Accelerator track logs. The NetBackup file system is used to store NetBackup client configuration and NetBackup Accelerator track logs. You can grow the file system as per your requirement.

  • The virtual IP should be pingable and online. You can check the status of the virtual IP using the network ip addr show command.

To install the add-on packages

  1. Download the add-on packages for the NetBackup client from the Download Centre:

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-8.1.2.1-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-8.2-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-9.0-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-9.0.0.1-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-9.1-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

    • VRTSaccess-app-ADDON-NBUClient-10.0-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm

  2. Go to the Appliance CLISH. Navigate to System > Software > Share Open.
  3. Mount the path specified as a part of the share open command on NFS or CIFS client.
  4. Copy the add-on packages to the /inst/patch/appliance/available/ folder using NFS or CIFS.

  5. In the Appliance CLISH, navigate to System > Software > Downloaded to confirm that the add-on packages are downloaded successfully.
  6. Navigate to System > Software > Install update update-name=<add-on pkg name> to install the package.
  7. Navigate to System > Software > Installed-addons to confirm that the package has been installed.
  8. Navigate to System > Software > Share close to close the shares.

To remove the add-on packages

  1. Go to the Appliance CLISH. Navigate to System > Software > Rollback-update update-name=<pkg name> to uninstall the packages.
  2. Navigate to System > Software > Installed-addons to confirm that the package has been removed.
