Enabling Veritas Data Deduplication catalog backup with NetBackup client
You can configure the built-in NetBackup client to perform a backup and restore of the deduplication catalog.
To enable the Veritas Data Deduplication catalog backup with NetBackup client
- Enable the NetBackup client to perform a backup and restore of the deduplication catalog.
Backup> dedupe-catalog enable
- Create a new policy. Navigate to the Attributes tab, select MSDP local STU (Storage unit) in Policy storage drop-down. You have to create a local STU as data is written to the media server.
Note:
During policy creation, you must select the Policy Type as Standard and also select the Cross Mount Point check box for successful backup operation.
- Navigate to the Schedules tab and create a new schedule as per your requirement.
- Navigate to the Clients tab. Click New and add the client name (FQDN) which is mentioned during backup configuration (Virtual Name). Select the check box Detect client operating system and click OK.
- Navigate to the Backup Selection tab. Click Browse.
Double click on the
vx
folder. Select thededupe_catalog
folder. The list of all the files and directories which are to be backed up appears. Click OK.Note:
When you run the dedupe-catalog enable command from CLISH, all the catalog files and folders that are required for back up are automatically added to the
dedupe_catalog
folder. You need not select any files manually. - Run the policy manually or as per schedule.
