About FTP
The file transfer protocol (FTP) server feature allows clients to access files on the Access Appliance servers using the FTP protocol. The FTP service provides secure/non-secure access by FTP to files in the Access Appliance servers. The FTP service runs on all of the nodes in the cluster and provides simultaneous read and write access to the files. The FTP service also provides configurable for anonymous access to Access Appliance.
By default, the FTP server is not running. You can start the FTP server using the FTP> server start command. The FTP server starts on the standard FTP port 21.
The Access Appliance FTP service does not support transparent failover. During failover due to either a shutdown or a restart of the server, the FTP client loses its connection to the server. As a consequence, any upload or download to the FTP service during the failover fails. Restart any upload or download to the FTP service from the beginning after the connection to the FTP service has been re-established.
