Installing add-ons

Use the following procedure to install an EEB or other add-on to an appliance or an application instance.

Note:

You cannot install add-ons to more than 10 appliances or to more than 10 instances at a time.

To install add-ons

  1. Make sure that the add-ons you want to install are located in the repository. See Adding packages or files to the repository.
  2. From the AMS Home page, select the appliances on which you want the add-ons installed. All appliances must have the same software version. After selecting appliances, click Install add-on or Install EEB.
  3. Confirm that the displayed information for the selected appliances is correct. Click the dropdown arrow to show add-ons that are already installed on each appliance. If the list is correct, click Next. To make changes, click Back.
  4. Select the appropriate add-ons from the repository list and click Install or Next. For Flex appliances, you must first select the version of the application on which to install the add-on before you select add-ons from the repository.
  5. If you are installing add-ons to NetBackup appliances, the installation procedure is complete.
  6. If you are installing add-ons to Flex appliances, select the instances where you want to install the add-ons. Click Next.
  7. Verify that the displayed information is correct and click Stage. The Stage process determines if the add-ons conflict with those that are already installed. You can see the progress of the upload under the Status column. When the staging is complete, click Next.
  8. Review any conflicts. If any of the add-ons have conflicting changes, alert messages appear to let you know of the conflicts and the resulting actions. If you agree with the default resolution, proceed to the next step.

Otherwise, resolve the conflicts manually as follows:

    • If a conflict exists between the add-ons, review the messages and change the add-on selection as appropriate. If you wish to change the order in which add-ons are installed, you can do so using the Flex Appliance Console.

    • If a conflict exists between a new add-on and an installed add-on, the new add-on is not installed. If you want to install the new-add-on, click Cancel to back out of the procedure. Then remove the installed add-on and try again.

    • If a conflict exists between installed add-ons, you must remove one of the add-ons before you can continue. Click Cancel to back out of the procedure.

    • If all of the add-ons are required or if you are unsure which add-ons should be installed, you can obtain a detailed conflict report from the Flex Appliance Console. For assistance, you can share this report with Veritas Support.

  9. Click Install.
