Improved duplicate host finding and merge
Finding duplicate hosts is made easier by the introduction of a new Duplicate Host Analysis report. This report can be exported and used as an input for the host merging script to reduce the duplicate hosts in your environment.
This report is introduced to detect duplicate hosts in your environment. Since detecting duplicate hosts and merging them is an advanced process, this report is visible only to Super User or System Administrator by default. Other admins and users can access the report by enabling access permissions. To reduce duplicate hosts from specific host groups, the report scope selector allows you to generate host group-specific reports. Once generated, you can export the report in a CSV format and use it as and input for the merge duplicate hosts script.
You can find this report at: Reports > System Administration > Duplicate Host Analysis and for more information, see the Duplicate Host Analysis section in the NetBackup IT Analytics Report Reference Guide.
The host_merge.sql script is introduced to merge duplicate hosts in your environment. Since the host merge process is irreversible, it must be executed by an administrator with comprehensive knowledge of backup solutions. The script uses a CSV export of the Duplicate Host Analysis report to identify and merge duplicate hosts. The pre-check present in the script ensures the host merging occurs without any errors.
For detailed steps to merge duplicate hosts, see Merge duplicate hosts section in the NetBackup IT Analytics Administrator Guide.
