About this release
This document provides release information about the Access Appliance product, including changes in this release.
Veritas recommends that you upgrade to version 8.1 in the following cases:
Require 2.4 PiB storage for Veritas Data Deduplication. Note that you require 0.5 GB of system memory for every 1 TB of storage when you configure the Veritas Data Deduplication server. If you want to configure 1.2 PiB storage, you require 768 GB of system memory.
Encrypt data using NetBackup Key Management Service (KMS).
Reduce the storage capacity of a Veritas Data Deduplication storage pool.
Upgrade NetBackup environment to version 10.1 or 10.1.1.
It is important that you evaluate the benefits carefully before you upgrade to version 8.1.
