Moving the log data
The appliance logs are saved to the system disk by default and have limited storage space. If you need additional space, you can create a log partition and move the current log data to that partition. You can move the NDMP logs, the logs in the /log
directory, or both. This operation requires at least 100 GB of available storage space on the appliance.
Note:
If you move the logs in the /log
directory, factory reset is no longer supported on the appliance.
To move the log data
- Make sure that you have at least 100 GB of storage space available on the appliance.
- Stop all active NetBackup jobs.
- Log in to the NetBackup Virtual Appliance Shell Menu and run one of the following commands:
To move the NDMP logs:
Support > Storage Create NDMPLogPartition
To move the logs in the
/log
directory:Support > Storage Create LogPartition
- Follow the prompts to create the partition. When the operation is complete, the appliance restarts. After the appliance restarts, run the following command to view the new partition:
Manage > Storage > Show Partition
- If needed, you can resize or move the partition with the following commands:
Manage > Storage > Resize
Manage > Storage > Move
