Enterprise Vault™ Improving the Archiving Throughput of the SMTP Archiving Task

Before you make this change, it is important to consider the following points:

• The amount of CPU available on the Enterprise Vault SMTP server. As increasing the number of item processor threads increases the CPU usage, the Enterprise Vault SMTP server must have adequate spare CPU capacity.

• The configuration of the Enterprise Vault Storage and Indexing services. If these services are hosted on the Enterprise Vault SMTP server, then they must also have adequate additional resource capacity to cope with an increase in throughput by the SMTP Archiving task.

• The archiving load on the Enterprise Vault SMTP server. If the Enterprise Vault SMTP server also hosts other types of Enterprise Vault archiving, ensure that the resources available on the server are adequate for all types of archiving that the server performs.
