Enterprise Vault™ Improving the Archiving Throughput of the SMTP Archiving Task
Checking the effectiveness of increasing the item processor threads
Increasing the number of SMTP Archiving task item processor threads should cause the SMTP Archiving task to process items at an increased rate.
We recommend that you test the changes over a 24-hour window of normal expected load in your environment. During the test period, make the following checks:
On the Enterprise Vault SMTP server, check the responsiveness of the Windows graphical interface.
If there is another server from which you can access the SMTP server, check that the SMTP server remains accessible.
On the Enterprise Vault server that hosts the Storage service check that the Storage service is not repeatedly reported as busy.
See Monitoring the Storage Queue and the SMTP holding folder.
On the Enterprise Vault SMTP server, check that items in the SMTP holding folder are being processed, and that the backlog of items waiting to be processed does not grow too large.
