The system time may not be set correctly after booting with Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR) that was created with Backup Exec 21
Problem
The system time is not set correctly after booting with SDR media that was created with Backup Exec 21 on some hardware. For instance, the system time is 17 hours ahead when booting from the SDR media that was created at UTC+9 time zone.
Error Message
N/A
Cause
This issue happens when the following 2 conditions are met :
1. The hardware does not have the time zone setting, and the hardware clock is set to local time.
2. Booting from SDR media that was created at time zone except UTC-8 (Pacific Standard Time).
NOTE:
The hours ahead will be caused by the time difference between the current time zone and Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8).
Solution
A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
NOTE:
Please recreate the SDR media after applying this Hotfix. Please set your timezone on SDR wizard after booting from the SDR media. After then, set the correct local time on the command prompt if needed.
Workaround:
Manually set the accurate local time on BIOS or OS after the restore completes.
