About NetBackup 53xx High Availability solution

Starting with the release version 3.1 of the NetBackup appliance software, Veritas offers a high availability (HA) solution for NetBackup 53xx appliances. The HA solution guarantees the system throughput and operational availability for data protection operations.

The NetBackup 53xx HA solution is a dual-node solution that provides the following benefits:

  • Two NetBackup 53xx compute nodes (a node and a partner node) operate in an active/active mode through an HA configuration.

  • The two nodes efficiently share the storage workload.

  • All stored data is available and accessible through either node.

  • All NetBackup jobs can be run on a node while its partner node is serviced or upgraded.

  • Other than deploying new systems for the NetBackup 53xx HA solution, the existing systems can also be converted for the HA solution.
