Performing a rolling upgrade from 7.4.2 to 9.0 using the product installer
To perform a rolling upgrade
- Log in as superuser and mount the product installation media.
- Start the installer from the root folder.
# ./installer
The installer starts the product installation program with a copyright message. It then specifies where it creates the logs. Make a note of the directory name and path where the logs get stored.
- From the menu, select Upgrade a Product and from the submenu, select Rolling Upgrade.
- The installer suggests system names for the upgrade. Press Enter to upgrade the suggested systems, or enter the name of any one system in the cluster on which you want to perform a rolling upgrade and then press Enter.
The installer checks system communications, release compatibility, version information, and lists the cluster name, ID, and cluster nodes. Press y to continue.
- The installer performs further prechecks on the nodes in the cluster and may present warnings. You can press y to continue or quit the installer and address the warnings from the precheck.
- The installer prompts you to stop the applicable processes. Press y to continue.
- The installer stops relevant processes, uninstalls old kernel RPMs, and installs the new RPMs. The installer asks if you want to update your licenses to the current version. Select Yes or No. Veritas recommends that you update your licenses to fully use the new features in the current release.
- The installer prompts you to enter the hostname and port number of the edge server if your systems are not registered to Veritas Cloud Receiver (VCR).
You can enter telemetry.veritas.com to use the preconfigured Veritas Cloud Receiver as an edge server for your environment. The installer completes the upgrade on the first node and starts required processes.
- The installer prompt you to continue the rolling upgrade on the other node. Press y to continue.
