New operational notes for NetBackup Appliance 5.3
This topic describes the known issues for this release. Some of the issues that appear here may also apply to previous releases because some issues may have been discovered after the previous release became available.
Smart Card logins to NetBackup Web UI fail after upgrades from version 5.0 to version 5.3
After an upgrade from NetBackup Appliance version 5.0 to 5.3, Smart Card users may experience login failures to the NetBackup Web UI with the following error: 400 Bad request
Run the following command to check the status of the
Nginx
service: Main > Support > TestIf the command output shows that the
Nginx
service is not running, contact Veritas Technical Support and refer them to article number 100060989. Ask them to restart theNginx
service.If you configure an HA appliance or add a node, an email alert is not sent with the success notification, even when the operation completed successfully. In addition, all future alerts for the type of operation that you ran are also skipped. To resolve this issue and make sure that future alerts are sent, contact Veritas Technical Support and ask your representative to reference article 100060842.
If you edit your email alert configuration on the Alert Configuration page of the NetBackup Appliance Web Console, email alerts no longer work after you click . To resolve this issue, refer to the following article:

If a NetBackup appliance has many storage LUNs, NetBackup may fail to start when you restart the appliance. If you experience this issue, refer to the following article:
If STIG is enabled and the login banner is not customized when you upgrade to version 5.3, the login banner becomes blank. If you experience this issue, refer to the following article:
If you run the Support > LogBrowser Start command in the NetBackup Appliance Shell Menu and then open the URL from the browser, the page is blank. To view the logs, use the Support > Logs > Browse command. If you need to download the logs, contact Veritas Technical Support and ask your representative to reference article 100061158.
