Enterprise Vault Properties page

This page lists the archiving settings for the selected mailbox, mailbox folder, or public folder. The settings vary according to the mailbox or folder.

The Change option opens the Enterprise Vault - Change Properties dialog box, which lets you change the displayed settings. Your administrator may have locked the settings to stop you changing them. If the Change option is not available, there are no settings that you can change.

The page can contain the following fields:

Archive items older than

Indicates use of one of the strategies that Enterprise Vault can use to select items to archive. Enterprise Vault archives items automatically as soon as they reach the specified age.

Archive to leave percent free space

Indicates use of one of the strategies that Enterprise Vault can use to select items to archive. Enterprise Vault archives the oldest items in your mailbox until the mailbox contains a certain percentage of free space.

Delete (or Do not delete) original item after archiving

Indicates whether Enterprise Vault deletes the original item after it has archived the item.

Create (or Do not create) shortcut to archived item after archiving

Indicates whether Enterprise Vault creates a shortcut to the archived item.

Vault

Retention Category

Identifies the default retention category that Enterprise Vault assigns to the items in the mailbox or folder.

The retention category that you assign to a mailbox or folder applies to each of its subfolders for which Use parent folder settings is selected. The Use parent folder settings option is in the Enterprise Vault - Change Properties dialog box for the folder.

Note that certain Enterprise Vault features can override this retention category. For example, your administrator can choose to set up one or more folders, called retention folders, in your Enterprise Vault archive. If the administrator has designated the current folder as a retention folder, the retention category selected for the retention folder may override any change that you make to the folder's retention category.

Folder settings inherited from

Identifies the parent folder from which the current folder inherits its Enterprise Vault archiving settings.
