Troubleshooting Privileged Delete failures
Table: Failure reasons and actions lists the failure reasons that you may see in the item history when you use the Privileged Delete feature to delete an item from an Enterprise Vault archive along with the actions that you can take to resolve them.

Failure reason | Action |
---|---|
Archive or vault store does not exist. | Verify whether the archive or vault store is deleted from Enterprise Vault. |
Cannot delete the item. The item is stored on an older version of Enterprise Vault. | Upgrade the server to Enterprise Vault 12.3 or later. |
Deletion is not permitted. The item is either on legal hold or stored on a compliance device. | Verify whether the item has been put on hold or stored on a device from which it is not possible to delete items. |
Enterprise Vault Accelerator Service account has insufficient permissions to delete items from the archive. | Check whether the Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager service account has sufficient permissions on the archive to which the item belongs. |
Invalid parameters passed to the Enterprise Vault API. | Contact your Enterprise Vault administrator for help. |
Item not found. | Verify whether the item has already been deleted from the archive. |

Enterprise Vault is not running. Or: Enterprise Vault is temporarily unable to process the request. The server is busy, or has insufficient resources, or is only able to read data due to ongoing backups. Wait and retry later. Or: The Enterprise Vault server encountered an internal error. | Set the configuration option "Maximum privileged delete retry" to increase the number of times that Discovery Accelerator should try to delete the item from the Enterprise Vault archive. |
