Restrictions for Hyper-V pass-through disks
This topic pertains to NetBackup.
Note the following:
For pass-through disks, Instant Recovery point-in-time rollback is not supported for the backups that were made with a VSS hardware provider.
Note that point-in-time rollback is supported with a VSS provider type of System. You can use VSS Provider Type of System for a local snapshot backup, but not for alternate client backup. Note also that copy back restore from an Instant Recovery backup is supported with both provider types of System and Hardware.
A pass-through disk must not be assigned by means of an IDE controller. If an IDE controller is used to assign a pass-through disk, NetBackup cannot create a snapshot of the disk using a hardware provider type.
