Configuring the Veritas Remote Management Interface using laptop

You can configure the dedicated Veritas Remote Management Interface (IPMI) LAN settings using a laptop.

To configure the dedicated Veritas Remote Management Interface (IPMI) LAN settings using a laptop

  1. The IPMI interface of the appliance is pre-configured with the IP address 192.168.0.10 and netmask 255.255.255.0 in the factory.
  2. To gain access to the Veritas Remote Management Interface for initial configuration, directly connect a RJ45 ethernet cable between the IPMI port and the ethernet port of a laptop computer.
  3. Configure the network interface of the laptop computer with a static IP address in the default network segment used by IPMI.

For example, use IP address 192.168.0.1 and netmask 255.255.255.0.

  4. Ensure that the power cords to the appliance are connected.
  5. Use the following steps to access the Veritas Remote Management Interface:
    • Open a supported web browser on a system that has a network connection to the appliance. The following browsers are supported:

      • Google Chrome version 94 or later recommended (minimum version 80 or later)

      • Mozilla Firefox version 93 or later recommended (minimum version 80 or later)

    • Enter the address https://192.168.0.10 and confirm the certificate warning displayed.

    • Log in to the Veritas Remote Management Interface with the following default credentials:

      • Username: sysadmin

      • Password: P@ssw0rd

    • Change the default IPv4 and/or IPv6 configuration as follows:

      • Navigate to Configuration > IPv4 Network or Configuration > IPv6 Network accordingly.

      • On LAN Channel, select Channel-3.

      • Choose Obtain an IP address automatically (use DHCP) or Use the following IP address.

      • Provide IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary and Secondary DNS Server if you have selected Use the following IP address.

      • Click Save to apply the new network configuration.

  6. Connect the IPMI port of the appliance to the network switch and re-establish access to the Veritas Remote Management Interface using the static IP configured or dynamic IP obtained from DHCP.
