Downloading logs using the Log Transfer Console
The Log Transfer Console provides a web-based interface to download logs from a node that is a part of a cluster or from a node that is not yet configured in a cluster. The logs are downloaded from the node to your local system using a web service. You can access the Log Transfer Console using the IP address that is assigned to the eth1 network interface of the node. The Log Transfer Console is compatible with Google Chrome browser version 57.0.2987 or later and Mozilla Firefox browser version 52.0.0 or later.
You can download a single log file or multiple log files at a time. To download multiple log files, you need to create a log package, which is a compressed tar file, and then download the log package to your system.
To collect logs from a node:
- Use the admin user credentials to log in to the node using the Access Appliance Shell Menu.
- To start the log transfer service, enter the following command:
support logbrowser start
If the service starts successfully, the URL to access the Log Transfer Console web interface is displayed. The URL is similar to https://eth1-IPaddrress:8514/appliance/logs/ and uses the IP address that is assigned to the eth1 interface.
- Open a supported browser and use the displayed URL to access the Log Transfer Console. If the node is not a part of a cluster, sign in using the admin user account, which is the local administrator account. If the node is a part of a cluster, sign in using the admin user account or an account that is authenticated with LDAP or Active Directory.
- Click the Select files to download tab.
All the log files and directories in the
/log
directory of the node are displayed. - To download a single log file, select the file, and from the menu options click Download.
The file is downloaded to your system.
- To download multiple log files and directories, complete the following steps:
Select the files that you want download and click Include in the log package. To add a single file at a time, select the file and click Include.
Click the View selected files tab.
The files that you selected earlier are displayed. Optionally, to exclude a selected file from the log package, select the file and from the menu options click Exclude. To exclude multiple files, select the files and click Exclude selected files.
Review the list of files and click Generate and download log package.
A compressed tar file is created and downloaded to your system.
