Creating policy rules

For each file system, you can create policy rules. The file system policy, which may consist of multiple rules, is run at the designated time.

The tiering policies include:

  • Specify on which tier (primary or secondary) the new files get created.

  • Relocate files from the primary tier to the secondary tier based on any number of days of inactivity of a file.

  • Relocate files from the secondary tier to the primary tier based on the access temperature of the file.

  • Prune files on the secondary tier based on the number of days of inactivity of a file.

Prune policies are related to the secondary tier. Prune policies are not related to the cloud tier.

Note:

To create a policy rule, a secondary or cloud tier must already exist on the file system.
