NetBackup 10.1.1 application new features, enhancements, and changes
The following list describes the new features, enhancements, and changes that are specific to the NetBackup 10.1.1 application. The application also includes the new features from NetBackup unless they are called out as exceptions in this guide. See the NetBackup Release Notes for more information.
This release adds a new staging volume for media server application instances. The staging volume allocates storage for cache files and uninterruptible backups when the NetBackup primary server is unavailable. If the primary server is down, the media server can use the staging volume to track job changes and statuses. The volume can be between 5 GB and 500 GB. If you are unsure how much to allocate, Veritas recommends that you start with 250 GB.
You can now enable OS STIG hardening on a primary or a media server instance.
See Enabling extra OS STIG hardening on a primary or a media server instance.
You can now configure a login banner to appear when a user logs in to a primary or a media server instance.
See Using a login banner on a primary or a media server instance.
You can now configure an isolated recovery environment (IRE) to use an external certificate authority for host communication.
See Configuring data transmission between a production environment and an IRE WORM storage server.
When you configure an IRE, the production_primary_server_username and the ire_primary_server_username parameters now require that Windows users are entered in the format <domain name>\<username>. For other users, enter the username only.
